RE: LC filters for B+ ...

Dennis' power supply filter is not LC.

For a power supply filter to be (and act like) a LC filter the inductance of the choke HAS TO meet critical inductance.

Dennis' power supply filter is a cap input filter (and acts like one) with a "hash" choke in front of it. A hash choke is not a bad idea but placing a hash choke in front of a cap input filter does not make a cap input filter a choke input filter. It's still a cap input filter. Period!

This is not up for debate, it's just a fact.

Take some time to study how a critical inductance choke input filter behaves how the rectifier tube behaves when attached to a critical inductance choke input filter. Now study how Dennis' filter behaves and how his rectifier will behave.

You will learn that they behave very, very differently.
