"I have never had a problem with the star attached to the chassis. The trick is not to allow small signal grounds to use the same path back to the star as high level grounds. Also, only the star and the third wire of the line cord should be attached to the chassis (they don't need to be in the same physical location)."
DT667 follows the same basic grounding methodology as described by TK.
Keeping audio circuit returns at a different potential from earth with a resistor is something DT667 has seen before but only a 10 ohm resistor was used.
