Look at RCA jacks, tube sockets , speaker binding posts, potentiometer wiper contacts - all these items can compromise AC signal integrity if contacts become too loose.The net effect will be unwanted distortion products to be produced by the amplifier.
A PC FFT or scope can help detect the above mentioned negative conditions.
As far as tube sockets, DF's quality needs are more extreme than the average DIY tube hobby person.
Most of us would probably just re-tension the socket contacts and call it good.
