But NOT difficult to detect with distortion measurements. Non-sine distortions (non-linearities) are symptomatic of additional frequencies that can be quantitatively measured in test. A scope is the wrong tool for this. IF the dielectric is changing over time, the differences should be measurable with distortion analyzers. To the best of my knowledge, no one has yet managed to do so in the context of capacitors "breaking in."
