RE: this is email I got

Three things that will make a substantial differeence.

A large capacitor needs to be bypassed by a small one

One other thing that I no longer see is when one uses a C-L-C after rectification then a 0.01uF capacitor in series with 10K resistor whould bypass the choke to stop parasitics. This is a major contributor to listener fatique.

And to avoid unneccesary ringing in an OPT a resistor equal to the impedance of the OPT and 1/10 of the power capacity in series with a capacitor that has the same reactance at 10kHz - 15Khz as the impedance. But this may change depending on the quality of the OPT - if no or little feedback it is better to use a triangle signal and observe the slope and the top and bottom. In days past it was easier to produce a square wave but a triangle is more revealing if you know what to look for. After all the top and bottom of a square wave suggest DC and a transformer does not transform DC so all kinds of unnatural corrections is being applied. (resulting in unnatural reproduction of sound).
