RE: Getting used to...

All of these "by-ear" evals are meaningless. They only serve to muddy what what actually know to be true. Funny story, I once bought an integrated amp (tubes of course) and was astounded by how full and rich and dynamic it sounded. I listened to it for hours, convinced it represented the pinnacle of '60s amplifier design. A few days later, I put it on the bench and discovered a very unusual frequency contour. The cause turned out to be a defective slide switch that was partially engaging the loudness contour. After I fixed the switch, it sounded pretty much like all the other amps in its class from that era. Thank goodness I didn't go online and tell everyone how Brand X sounded better than everything else, and that measurements are for fools and idiots because nothing matters but my ears. :)
