RE: Cathode bypass...

From my experience, mainly at low level, I think there are benefits to LED and diode biasing compared to cap bypass. I read your post as an expression of statement of fact whereas my experience is different.

I do think capacitors contribute to audible differences in a negative way in this application compared to diode biasing but this is a preference thing.

Despite the above, I can't say I've been aware of burn in of any component and would find it hard to differentiate from just plain ol "getting used to it"
