RE: Why nickel?

Thanks Paul. But why nickel over the currently available alternatives? Finemet, at least for gapped transformers, seems a technically better material in the hands of a competent engineer.

In practice, I've found big Finemet c-cores, using the right winding techniques, to be a big step up over common candidates. I've not tried (partial) nickel though and I'm happy to consider it for future builds if it is a viable alternative and sonics suit.

Thanks again.
