RE: DDS signal generators - any good for us?

If you took an ordinary RBCD player and used a test CD that contained sine wave tones of various frequencies (at 16 bit resolution), I would think that such a source could be used for testing amplifiers, etc. So, I don't see why you couldn't use the output of this 12-bit box. You would compare its output to that of the amplifier to estimate distortion introduced by the amplifier.
