RE: The best capacitor is no capacitor

There still needs to be an AC connection between the plate and the cathode of a tube to complete the AC current loop. In a single-ended stage that link is the power supply cap (unless a more exotic design like a CCS fed active shunt reg. is used). The signal will still be exposed to whatever capacitor is used in the PS.
