I can clearly hear the difference on my system. I am not switching the speaker connection but changing the polarity at the source with a remote. On most recordings the difference is night and day. Even my Luddite brother could easily hear the difference. Some compilation albums can be a real pain when all the songs aren't recorded in the same absolute polarity. Eva Cassidy albums that are compilations exhibit this characteristic. It changes the timbre of her voice.
