The 6SN7, IMO is one of the best voltage amps ever as far as sound and ease of implementation. I think it's Rp is a little high for IT service.
Give it try, you can always find another octal valve with Rp and transconductance needed if the arrangement doesn't let the magic out. You'll need some gain in front regardless.
