I would REALLY like to try hi Freq. heaters on a GM-70

With DC you have a 20 V gradient on you cathode bias from one end of the cathode to the other. But AC is out of the question with 20 VAC on the heaters of a DHT, IMHO.

I had the chance to hear an 845 amp that allowed on-the-fly switching between AC and DC heaters, and clearly preferred the sound of the amp in the AC heater mode. It was Ed Sawyer's amp; perhaps he can weigh in with an opinion.
