Well call me an idiot. I modified my Sun 2A3 with a 5K shunt style stepped attenuator with a 5K series resistor. ;~)
My line stage has Lundahl line out transformers with the secondaries wired in parallel driven by 6N30s configured as LTPs, 25mA/side@150V. 100 Ohm output impedance. It works quite well.
