I met Lynn once at 2012 RMAF. I think you need to take what he says with a certain "grain of salt". On the other hand, I have been intrigued since reading Professor Hawsford's AudioXpress interview by his thoughts on "analog jitter". How the audio signal will modulate the slope resistance and capacitance of transistors and in turn modulate the open loop gain/bandwidth product resulting in signal modulated phase distortion in the closed loop, a type of analog jitter. I know from experience that "cogging" in a turntable motor (another type of analog jitter) can kill the sound and apparently it doesn't take much digital jitter kill CD sound either.
