Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Did I say that? - or are you just struggling to be rational?

I didn't say that I liked higher distortion, and I did not say that low THD was bad. Despite your suggestion, which in itself is a form of distortion :-).

What I did was provide an example;

The guy buys the amp with the lower THD and wonders why it sounds worse than the amp with higher THD. His response to the question to engineer, designer would be that 'its not because its low in THD' ie. it must be something else, and when ego is involved, more than likely to push it back and perhaps with some interest.

And you've pretty much proven this example to be completely valid by your response. That could even be the response of the designer in the example given

As for my personal view, its not about me. And I think thats where we start to get a bit lost.

Who is right?. Depends what we are talking about. If we are talking about personal preference then none of us can ever be right, because the question is incorrect/incomplete.

If we are talking about 'does our background influence our susceptability to accept anothers view-point which is contrary to my own conditioning', well there can only be one correct answer to that, ironically it is supported also by science.

Cheers.
