RE: low voltage 845-845 SET amp?

As I understand it, the only difference between the 845 and the 211 (or 203A) is the pitch of the grid wire.
Wouldn't that be a better solution to addressing the problem of gain, while still being 'close enough' to what you're trying to accomplish?
