One thing more, if you are using the cascode MOSFET K&K kits, have you substituted IXYS 8N50D2s for the 8N100D2s that sit on the bottom of the cascode? Nice improvement. If you do change them, you can bend the leads to offset the device so it no longer is mounted to the heat sink, but stands ~3/16th" off it. The bottom devise doesn't dissipate much heat because it only has about 3.5V across it. This gets you two benefits. One: this removes ~10pF of capacitance between the drains of the two MOSFETS and should improve the high freq. performance of the current source. And two: The current source will reach thermal equilibrium and constant current sooner.
