Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Consider this:

At small signal levels where the output stage is operating Class A the signal passes cathode to cathode. Correctly wired this connection is direct. The bypass caps come into play when one tube (bank in your case) cuts off and the other takes over (the signal then passes from plate to cathode through the PS and bypass cap(s). The way you wired it the signal must always pass through the bypass caps. In the Class A region, instead of no caps it must pass through BOTH sets of bypass caps. Does that make a difference? You will never know unless you try the other way around.
