In my experience yes. Maybe not so much as without shunt regulation. I have eleven K&K Salas style shunt regulators in my system and I can hear changes in the upstream caps. With the MOSFET based current source that Kevin uses to feed the shunt the high frequency performance deteriorates due to device capacitance. Killing as much high frequency grunge as possible (or better yet not generating it in the first place) in the raw power supply the better. Not just last cap but first cap too, rectifiers and overall topology (choke input vs. cap input) will make a difference.
