Thanks for the confirmation.
...my parts bin has a pack of 1N4748s so I'm good to go.
Having at a rebuild of my Dad's Luxman L-210 integrated, that's been sitting since 87'.
I've often thought of "fixing" a circuit running those pesky Zener noise makers .
