Hell I don't use a grid stop unless I know the valve will oscillate or I have an oscillation issue...for instance, for a hot rod transconductance like a 5842/417a (they were designed to oscillate) , you need a stop on all four grids. For a ECC88, 6922, I haven't needed a stop..just an observation....I'm sure,depending on the topology, you can run into the need for a stop....not always necessary.
