RE: The usefulness of Cathode Followers.

I built a version of Olsher's Blue Velvet line stage with a plate follower config. Nice results...so far a CF voltage amp I've tried doesn't quite get there....I ran A DIY 5687 CF for a while...I eventually went to a 5787 Parafeed with a LL1674 on the opt service...very very nice.

I went down the CF OPT rabbit hole...see attached. The goal is to create a SE Pentode that will please the SET crowd...me included...

Results: Very Encouraging

I assume this is hot topic considering the potential Input distortion created to accommodate the voltage swing to drive the OPT section. I tried to mitigate by loading the preamp plates with a CCS.

I've been teaking for a couple of years....in a vacuum...

Working to migrate the whole mess to a nice looking chassis..
