Find yourself an old SE power amp chassis from a late 50s, early 60s console, gut the amp and start again. For the purposes of learning, start with triode strapping just to get some quick gratification with your work. The more complicated methods of feedback can be explored when you have some time with the soldering iron under your belt...
By all means, be very respectful of the electrical hazard.. the average Plate voltage can KILL YOU under the right circumstances...if you're not up to speed on electrical safe practices, I'd start there. The www is the best resource for primer information...just Google it.
