RE: I have listened {and built} enough Amps to concur what Lynn Olsen has Said...

Hey Cleantime,

Point taken. I have been greatly inspired by the folks you mentioned.

I'm at a stage in my building learning curve where I strapped Pentodes and Tetrodes for years and I ignored Gordon Rankin's advice to just "let a Pentode be a Pentode"...

I've built (2)prototypes using Pentodes:

EL84 PP IT coupled with cathode feedback.
EL34 SEP Cathode follower output.

I compare them to my babies...type 50 SE Monos IT coupled (of coarse)...

I'm typically driving a pair of Voigt pipes using FE207's, a horn tweeter and mild baffle correction,in a "medium sized" Listen room...

Some of this assessment is due to the difference in power output. The 50's probably are not pushing enough for the FE207'S with correction to "Let the magic out" but it's very pleasing. When I compare this to the Pentode based amps with well regulated screens and a touch of cathode feedback, I want to keep both...this tells me enough to defend the Pentode in audio.

It maybe ill placed but that was my intent.
