6v6 or 71A driver?

Hi,

6V6 triode connected at -10Vg 28mA 170Vp Mu 9.5 (choke loaded) can swing enough to drive a 300B biased at -75V. As can 71A biased at -40V 20mA 180Vp with Rp about the same, assume the same plate load inductance for both types.

Which would you choose, and why?

6V6 would be AC heated, the 71A battery filament with series choke.

Additionally this driver stage will operate with fixed grid bias and DC coupled to the previous stage (either -10V or -40V is possible), cathode, or the filament return will be at zero volt potential.

Output stage will be stacked on the driver B+ and operate as fixed bias in grounded grid mode, no RC bias.

Shane.
