Check out that link, I think I'm even using the same precut wood from
Lowe's for the breadboard... That's a 6SN7 cap coupled to 6Y6G wired as
a cathode follower. The 6Y6 cathode actually is sucking its bias current
out of an 811A transmitter triode. The 811A's in this case are parafeed
using Magnequest outputs. A big Hammond SE transformer has been converted
into a place choke.
This amp sounded fantastic! It never got built out to a full chassis
because I have too many amps! It would have been good for a solid 9W completely operating in Class A2 mode (as transmitter triode do!). About
as much power as a well built 300B, but much cheaper to construct.
While you are at it, give the 6W6GT a spin too.
