Looks like a variation of local feedback attempting to improve the power valves linearity and distortion.

I'm running a KT66 with the plate coupled to the cathode of a 6SN7 in a cathode follower with a 47k resister up stream of the coupling Cap...the KT66 is running in tetrode mode with a tight supply on the screen grid. I have been amazed by the dynamics and sound stage. I think the distortion is still a bit high...so the challenge is same old challenge..How do you make a Tetrode/Pentode behave like a Triode and retain that crazy dynamic and power.
