I ran a quick spreadsheet calculation based on current prices, and its
in the $1800-$2200 ballpark. That includes Front Panel Express doing CNC top-plate, and it includes a walnut cabinet. Also, $500 for a pair of
Nickle MQ565s. If you did fully custom power and OPT's - it might go
as high as $2500 for the project.
I paid about $1200 or so back in 2005 when I built a proper pair.
That was before the economic crisis that rattled all the exchange rates.
To give you an idea, I bought LL1660/10 in 2002 and they were $65/ea.
I bough LL1660S/PP in 2005 and they were $85. Now, they are $125/ea.
FYI- you can build out the Amity to be flexible on output tubes.. You'd
rely on the 1.875" sockets so that you can use both 4-Pin (2a3/300b) as
well as octal (kt66,6b4,..) output devices.
