xaudiomanx, you're right the Amperex Bugle Boys will sound different, and not necessarily better.
Compared to a good Tele or Siemens a Bugle Boy will sound "fuller", with more punch, balls, etc. Possibly a bit fuller bass.
The downside is a lack of inner detail, finesse, smoothness in the treble, soundstaging, etc.

The differences are pretty dramatic. Which works best may depend on your own set of preferences and your systems strong/weak points.
I wish I could have the best of both.
The best bet may be to rip it apart and redesign for a different set of tubes. Just what you wanted to hear, right? Well, this is Tubes DIY.
