You might try a KT66 or KT88.
Lately, I've been letting Pentodes be Pentodes and Tetrodes be Tetrodes and getting great results with a UL connection. I strapped everything for a few years. A Triode amp, nicely built, sounds wonderful but there is a lot to be said for a well executed Pentode amp. I still have one of my amps running strapped EL84s...great sound...probably preferable to the beam tetrodes if you can deal with 2 watts/ch.
I just completed a SE 6L6 with CCS loaded 6SL7 drivers. The 6L6 are connected with local UL feedback...great sound. I will eventually strap them and compare sound...I'm sure it will be interesting...great fun
