Greetings- I recently restored an Altec A100A amplifier (PP 6A5G)that had undergone a "meltdown" of sorts, requiring me to replace the phenolic turret board and all of the resistors and a few caps that were on it. The amp sounds great at this time, except that there seems to be too much gain in the first stage of the amp.V1 and V2 are both 6J7s with pin 5 (suppressor grid)tied to pin 8 (cathode). Would triode stapping the 6J7s reduce the gain at all, and if so, what is the best way to "wire it up"?If this doersn't seem like a good approach, any reccomendations on how to lower the gain in the first stage? Thanks for your help, regards, wpod
