I've had GOOD results from a mono block build:
Seperate filament tranys, (4) Schotky diodes each bridge input to a 30 mH choke, 10,000uf bypassed by a good 1000uf bypassed by a good 1uf.
This approach I used to supply UX-250s at 6.9 VDC....very quiet. I also tuned this mono block to the other AC supplied mono block hence the Cap bypassing.
