Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

You should definitely try the 8532

I once did nearly exactly what you have: 430V, a DHT, and a 1:1 IT
with an 8532. It worked suprisingly well and the Bottlehead volk who
heard it really liked it.

The 8532 is a 7-pinner. I used its datasheet op point. There, its biased
at 1.4V or so. You just be able to swing 60V. What you'll like is you
amp will be 2Vpp input sensitive - so you can throw a 100K potentiometer
on its drive and try going for direct CD drive.

You can also try biasing it up with LEDs, or stacked diodes, or even
a battery. It's a UHF tube, like 6C45 and all, but I found it to be fairly well behaved. It *DID* equip it with grid stoppers on EACH of the 3 grid pins. Ontop of that - I threw some 0.1uF bypass caps across its filament
leads too, to be extra sure to keep RF away.

You can build a really nice compact amp with this tube.
