I've been using the Cascoded CCS that Kevin at K&K is offering. I was also surprised how well a CCS can load a plate. For the price and simplicity, the CCS is well worth the time and money. They can be a challenge if you over voltage or undersink. I've done both ;> 0
The SS stuff has a spooky personality compared to thermonic active devices. I over voltaged a CCS (forgot to connect the plates while tweeking) the CCS stopped loading. I pulled the board out, applied a 9v battery and readjusted the current with a 10 ohm resister, reinstalled the CCS and damn thing started working again...Also keep in mind that the device is under the chassis when you consider your heat sink.
