From a DIY stand point, placing minmum 97db@3ft/watt limits on driver efficiency is a bit confining. If you are dumping big cash on gear, I'd have to agree.

I'm getting good results running strapped EL84 amps with 92db drivers in smallish rooms. I'm running corrected FE207s (94bd un corrected) in my listening room with 50 monoblocks running a low plate voltage and starved filament which probably puts their power output at less than 3 watts. They sound really good...to my ear.

Not trying to stir debate but this is DIY.
