The last time I looked, this DAC was going for $170.00. Sorry, I didn't use your link. The Giga Lab DAC is basically the same design.

I did some investigating in the other forums while I was looking for a entry level DAC. The Valab is well regarded and apperently, has recieved some upgrades as far as the quality of the caps in the passive output. I bought he Giga Lab Moon DAC because I figured that I would get more backup from Pacific Valve if the device failed. They ship from the Chicago area.The guys at the Head FI forum had more experience with the Valab DAC. I initially was just going to use the Giga DAC for a laptop source. After a few hrs of break in, I used the fiber connection in my main system and it has been there every since. I like the sound. I build amps and the harshness of red book CD players has been a pain. The NOS DAC is a very different animal as far as sound. I don't claim to be DAC expert by any means but I very much like the sound I'm getting.
