I discovered that Hammond has release a new family of Interstage
Transformers ; they are described on the same product detail page as
the 124 series. The link is included.
I searched here and SET forum and saw nothing... It AMAZES me that Hammond
didnt announce these here, or other places! They need some marketing help!
In any case, these IT's look totally for real: Bifilar, 20-20K.
The 5K/30mA version looks the most useful and I'd reckon that it's good for 6C45PI,5842. Also, it should definitely do 45,71A and 6V6 family.
The 10K/15mA should do 6J5/26/76/6SN7 family ; Maybe the 5687 types, but running at high plate and lowish Ia.
I'm at a loss for what you'd do with 5K/15mA and what niche that serves?
I'm sure there some tweaky group of tubes out there for that role.
The niche they are missing is 5K/60mA -- that's what you'd need for a
big 845/211/813/GM70 etc project.. Typically, a 2A3 doing the work. Possibly even a 300B doing the work if you need 400Vp-p. But there's
probably few people needing such a specialized product. For those
with such needs, the Electra-Print 3033 is there. :)
Nonetheless, the 5K/30 is a great step for them! Congrats Hammond!
There should now be TWO ways for people to build 300B amps:
Wild high-gm, high-mu driver with a single tube, or, a 45 driving a 300B.
