The original Loftin-White amplifiers all utilized the 24A tetrode as the input tube.
While a few variants exist with pentodes in the V1 position; Nobu Shishido's 1970 design, utilizing a paralleled 12AX7 D-C-coupled to a 2A3 has been the modern paradigm.
