Tre'- I placed a NOS RCA 2A3 in my Hickock 533A and after a relatively short warmup (15 minutes), the tube tested at 4100 umhos at the 2.5 volt setting (which actually reads 1.83 vac before pressing P4) at the tube pins with my Fluke 179 DMM.After pressing P4, the filament voltage drops to 1.72 vac, but this is where the tube measured 4100umhos. I then changed the tester setting to 3 vac (actually 2.15 before pressing P4, 2.02 vac after pressing P4.What I find unusual is that the 2A3 only measured about 4200 unmhos with the voltage increase, I thought that it would go higher. Now it gets real interesting (and scary), I set the filament voltage to 4.3 vac on the Hickock (actually measures 2.69 vac before pressing P4, 2.52 vac after pressing P4, and the 2a3 DIDN"T measure any higher than the previous setting. Go Figure? Just to make sure that the tube itself was not playing tricks on me, I tested another RCA NOS 2A3 (same vintage) and got nearly identical readings, except that the tube started out at 3950 umhos , but the rest of the measured voltages were incrementally the same. Hope this helps, regards, wpod
