NOT having to use a seperate filament transformer for the output tubes. Untill Jeff says otherwise,I was assuming that what he meant was that the setup would be so terrible that it wasn't even worth considering. If I understand you correctly, it will work, but there may be more hum present than what would be considered acceptable (but possibly not?). I knew that I would have to lower my B+ in order to operate in class A as I had stated in my third entry to this thread. As you suggested, I thought that I would just lose the first cap and see if the stock choke could handle the role as the first component after the rectifier (without buzzing). If it turned out to be a buzzer, I'd still record the voltage change (drop), and then go with Jeff's suggestion of L/C/L/C (low Henrie,low DCR). I went to your amplifier link (beautiful work!) and I can understand all of it except the CCS part, as I still have not scratch built a CCS in any of my previous projects. So I guess my next question to you would be,could I use your basic front end circuit (including the PSA-20s) but without the CCS? And if not, and you think the CCS is essential, could you please point me to a link or schematic that would enable me to build one? I'm probably (hopefully) not as inept as I may sound at times, and I do have an insatiable appetite for this type of knowledge. I really want to learn and understand it.
