Advice needed on replacing Fluke 179

Greetings- I'm having a hard time deciding what to do. My "lifetime guaranteed" 2 year old Fluke 179 DMM died (due to my stupidity), so I sent it back to Fluke to have it assessed. They called me today and told me that due to the nature of the problem (corrosion on PCB), it was not covered on the guarantee, and it would cost $150.00 to repair it. I told them that I'd need a day to think about it. I can purchase a new 179 DMM with the carrying case and accessory pack for $239.00. I was also considering a Wavetek 37XR for about $111.00. The main reason that I bought the Fluke to begin with was mostly due to the "lifetime guarantee". Now that I see what that is about, the Wavetek seems like a much better deal. Wavetek is owned by Fluke , I beleive, so the quality should be quite good. The corrosion in the Fluke is most likely due to a rainy night that it spent out on my screened front porch , not directly in the rain however. I dismantled it and dried it with a hair dryer and sprayed it with Deoxit that next morning, but couldn't revive it. Is there someone besides Fluke that could bring the unit back to life for less money or should I just buy the Wavetek or ????? I really appreciate your advice. Thank you, Paul
