Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

First time I checked out the LL1660/PP with some measurements...

I thought "jeez, this thing totally sucks."

Then I just decided to make do with it and I could not hear the anomolies I expected from the measurements. It even turned out the things that bothered me were not even being measured, it being much harder to measure those correctly.

It takes a real open mind to look at that bench performance and then forget about it and listen and adjust for other things not seen, but with wild guesses for what they might be.

Audio measurements will prejudice you far away from what you really want, and us engineers that do this for a hobby get bit all the time.
