Mo' tweaks for PP45 Man ...

Yeah!!! That's what we're talking about!

Believe it or not, this conversation mirrors a series of on-line and telephone chats I had with the notorious Harvey "Gizmo" Rosenberg more than three years ago. The man was a voice in the wildness about trans-coupled PP DHT ... now you're hearing for yourself what Harvey was talking about. Impressive, no? It's a serious no-BS alternative to SET, with its own set of attractions.

Could Harvey get anyone of the Triode Mafia to listen? Nah, *everyone* knows that transformer coupling is distorted in the bass and rolled off at the top, and PP always sounds phasey, dull, and is no good for that famous "First Watt." Sure doesn't measure that way, though. Warm up the spectrum analyzer and I think you'll be impressed at what you see.

P.S. Now might be the time to try the TV damper-diode rectifiers ... I bet you *will* hear a difference now (grin). I don't have to tell you this is a mucho high-resolution circuit that will tell you *everything* about your hi-fi system.

You might also replace your driver tube with the new JJ Electronics ECC99. Electrically, this device is in the 7119 family (with a 12AU7 pinout), but tests indicate it has *one-third* the distortion of the well-known 5687/7044/7119 group of tubes. My intrepid tweaker buddy Hiroshi Ito reports from Waikiki Beach that the sonics are pretty impressive too, especially midrange tonality. Try it, you'll like it!
