I ran into the same loss of detail with a pair of Hammond ITs. I had been thinking it had to do with the nonlinearity of the virgin magnetization curve, and I couldn't understand why it seemed to affect all frequencies. When you bring up hysteresis it makes more sense. I still have a lot to learn.

The important thing is you have found a way around the problem. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of us. I may have to dust off the old ITs and try again. Keep up the good work.
