Hi,In "ham books" one is teached that tungsten - but just tungsten - filaments should be run at voltages so that they match the output (ie. conservative output should be used with lesser filament voltage a.s.o.) for longlivety.
Toriated could be run - 10-15% if the anode power is low, but not less. Though a soft voltage rise at start up is a good thing.
Both types - especially the first - should be run om AC (or if DC is to be used the polarity should be changed a little now and then).
Cathode sleve heaters should be used at nominal +/-5% (10% for modern small signal) AC or DC is unimportant, though "series heating types" shouldn't be used with "dead hard" current limiting devices as they may not even heat up...
