Reading this with interest, I'm just trying to understand the reasons why AC heating sounds best.

What do people think - is it :

(i) AC is better than DC , because, on average, there is a more constant level of bias across the length of the plates, than there is with DC ?

or
(ii) All the simple methods of rectifying and/or regulating a DC supply use solid-state devices that put high-frequency noise into the system ?

I seem to remember an article in Sound Practices , about the Chimera Labs 211 amp, using some clever details on a DC power supply for +5/-5V that they reported as a major improvement. Anyone read this and care to elaborate ?
