RE: Power transformer DCR sets the dynamic impedance.

In my supply if the current draw is increased by 10% the voltage drops 2.8 volts.

That would calculate to 437 ohm power supply impedance.

However there is nothing, in a music signal, that would cause this to happen. (in a Class A amplifier)

The longest duration current change, caused by music, would be 12.5ms (1/4 wave, 20hz).

A 10% current increase, over 12.5ms, causes a voltage drop of .3 volts.

That would calculate to 46.8 ohms power supply impedance.

If I increase the microfarad value of the last cap in the supply from 260uf to 4000uf (just to pick some numbers) the voltage drop over the 12.5ms duration is only .02 volts.

This would calculate to 3.125 ohms power supply impedance.

So I guess my bottom line question to you is, What do you mean by "dynamic impedance"?

Thanks, Tre'
