"Slight aggressive treble" could be almost anything. You really need to look at the frequency response of the amplifier. If you can't do that because of health issues, maybe you can enlist the help of a local audiophile. Otherwise, you could waste a lot of time and money replacing parts at random based on well-intentioned advice.

Did you measure the amount of NFB (dB) applied by the original circuit? A small amount can be beneficial in these large SETs for damping. You could probably apply 6dB without any penalty, and that might resolve this problem if it's a frequency response issue.
