The "extra holes" in the chassis have been repurposed as "infinite impedance traps" for eddy currents that might be circulating in the chassis.
You shouldn't worry about the eddy current in the chassis, worries are at the transformer eddy currents becouse that is making part of the signal.
And the "infinite impedance traps" you mentioned don't work the whay you think they work ....
